Of course here everyone is controlling ships instead of tanks, so things are slightly different in terms of how you need to move and shoot. Much like World of Tanks, World of Warships is primarily about either destroying all of the ships on the opposing team or capturing specific points on the map. I guess this means I should like this one more? So right off the bat World of Warships has more going for it in my mind than World of Tanks. Still, while I'm not really into tanks I do have more of an appreciation for planes and naval vessels. War - specifically the hardware used in war - has always been more of my dad's thing, but I didn't mind keeping him company as we visited air museums, naval yards, and so on to ogle all that metal. Whether or not that's an improvement depends on what you're looking for, but regardless, if you're not a fan of online competitive multiplayer chances are this isn't going to win you over. The main difference being the slower pace and need to aim more deliberately. World of Warships ends up being both similar to and different from its older sibling. This makes you easier to hit, but it also means you can potentially deal much more damage. If you want to fire all cannons at once, you're going to need to turn your ship so that most of the side is facing your target. Likewise with the rear cannon and aiming behind yourself. From head-on, only the forward cannon can fire. How you position your ship can be vital in combat, as the cannons are limited in where they can aim due to its very structure. Be sure to take this into account when aiming as that hang-time will require some pretty significant leading of the target in order to hit. Unlike tank shells or even bullets, the ordinance you fire from your ship's cannons take a bit to reach their target - up to several seconds if you're far enough apart. If you're not careful you could crash into some rocks or even another ship. Glance at the mini-map every now and then and zoom out to look around a bit. Because your ship won't stop moving on its own, you'll want to be mindful of your surroundings. This means that your ship will continue moving forward at the speed you designate until you yourself do otherwise. You set your ship's speed in increments, and once set it won't change on its own.

The other actors didn't do anything really extraordinary but serve as solid supporting characters. The acting was good too, most notably by Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. As I said, the story took a little while to gain steam, but it was pretty interesting from then on. It's also neat to see that effect inspire a similar one used in Terminator 2. The special effects for representing these characters were quite good, and I especially liked the water creature that toured around the rescue vessel. It wasn't for a while till we really got to meet the 'extraterrestrial' creatures. It seemed pretty normal with the sinking of a nuclear sub and the hiring of an oil crew to save it. At first, I wasn't quite sure why this was considered sci-fi. However, now I decided to check it out and was quite pleased with this solid sci-fi movie. When it came out, I was only 8 and not into sci-fi movies that weren't titled Star Wars. I've never really heard of The Abyss except in Fox DVD commercials.
